Similar to other radio compass indicators used in actual aircraft, the indicator would indicate to the pilot in training simulated directional signals received from ground transmitters by the loop antenna, allowing for course adjustments left or right. The indicator is in exceptional condition for its pre 1943 age (the year the Air Corps US Army

which in turn would transmit these signals to smaller repeater indicators located at other positions such as the pilots instrument panel
